If you make improvements they'll "take it into account"

In other words when they price up your property they won't increase the amount you pay because of any improvements you make.

When you fill in the right to buy forms make sure you list all improvements you have done to the property.

Yes you will, when you apply to buy they ask what improvements you have made so they can be deducted from their asking price, however check with your local council first as they may differ from mine.

I used to think you could but the answer is no. The best time to do home improvments would be after they have valued it and before you sell it

I'm in the same boat. i am doing a quick clean up, till it's mine. Then i'll start properly. loft con. rewire, plumbing etc. I don't want to spend £1000's, for them to add £10,000's

no, you'll loose money becuase you'll be adding value to it, so the council will charge you more if you choose to buy it.
