I wonder what these people think as they hurt others? For instance I can understand someone like OJ. I understand jealousy and that some people can go into a 'jealous rage'. I can understand someone robbing a bank for drug money or greed.

I can't however understand what goes on in the mind of someone while they are commiting some violent crimes...are these people really no better than animals??? Do they 'think' at all?

Even a simple crime like stealing a potted plant from an old lady's porch....how on earth does someone think of this as something they would want to do and then do it?

I've often thought that despite lip service and lotto tickets to help our educational system...it is a disgrace, a real national shame how stupid we are. Sure, there are some people who are very well educated but most people live from paycheck to paycheck and the numbers of the functionally illiterate are staggering.
Ignorance breeds frustration with the lack of goods breeds desperation to get the goods breeds getting the good by any means. Once that line is crossed, your moral conscience is out the door, and all bets are off and you just do the first thing you think of. Violence.

Okay, so I am certainly not one of these "it is my parents fault" but I believe that it does have a lot to do with how you were raised.
If your parents or whoever raised you did not teach you consideration of others or how to make choices, how to mature and contribute to society then as an adult you will continue that path. If you don't know or believe you have the capabilty to make different choices then you will forever being making excuses for your poor behavior.

Under no circumstance does an adult have any excuse for making those kind of choices. However, if they continue to listen to their friends and choose to hang out with those who are probably making the same choices and telling them they can never change they will always remain in that pattern. They will find a way to justify their actions and believe that the world owes them.

You get an adrenaline rush when you do something you're not supposed to do. Even if it's something very small, you'll still have a feeling of being alive. People who resort to breaking the law for this feeling do not feel content or complete inside.

Most of the time it's a disease. These people are mentally unstable. They have no remorse, no thoughts on the effects of what they are doing. Have you heard of sociopathic behavior or personality? Antisocial personality disorder?
