I have two male guineas, one is three months old, and the other is three years old. They used to get along, but now the older one is bulling the younger one. What should I do?

I dont want to separate them becase before I got the three month old, the other guinea pig was so lonley he almost died. The vet said it was depression. He had lost his brother a week before.

separate them. and give them both a lot of attention. guinea pigs are social animals. they need interaction, either with other piggies or with humans. since they can't keep each other company, you'll need to be sure to give them both lots of attention from YOU. hold them, cuddle them, play with them. often. there is no reason for a guinea pig to get so depressed it gets sick, even if it doesn't have any guinea pig roommates. it simply means he's not getting enough attention.

Don't get the glass cages/aquarium things nor plastic.
Buy two wire rabbit cages and put THOSE side by side right directly up against one another. The guinea pigs can still sleep side by side and cuddle, smell one another, do a little grooming of one another through the wires if they want and touch through the wire, but each can retreat to a separate corner if the other gets too aggressive. You can get the wire cages with a big plastic tray on the bottom for easy cleaning at a pet store. They aren't too expensive either, if memory serves. Good luck!

Only separate them if the older one is preventing the baby from eating or if there is bloodshed. If there is no blood, then they can sort out the dominance on their own. Check out this site, I'm a mod there.

You have to separate them. The young one will start standing his ground and the fighting will get really bloody. Very seldom will two males get along, even from the same litter.

Put them in separate cages before they kill each other; it is a territorial thing. They will fight til one of them is dead.
