first multiply each side by 2 to get rid of the 1/2

2A = (b1 + b2)h

next, divide both sides by h to isolate b1 and b2

2A/h = b1 + b2

then subtract b1 from both sides to isolate b2

answer:
b2 = (2A/h) - b1

A=1/2(b1+b2)h
2[A=1/2(b1+b2)h]2
1/h[2A=(b1+b2)h]1/h
2A/h=b1+b2
2A/h-b1=b2

b2=2A/h-b1

A=1/2(b1+b2)h

Lets rephrase the equation so that it will be easier to under stand

A=[(b1+b2)h]/ 2

Step 1 Move the 2 by multiply it by 2 on each side.

Now your equation should look like this.
2A=(b1+b2)h

Now move the h by dividing it by h on each side.

Your Equation should look like this
2A/h=b1+b2

finally Now move b1 by subtracting it on both sides.

(2A/h)-b1=b2

Your final answer is now. b2=(2A/h)-b1

a = ½(b1+b2)h

First, shift the ½ from the right to the left:
2a = (b1+b2)h

Now, shift the h to the left:
2a ÷ h = b1+b2

Now, shift the b1 to the left:
2a ÷ h – b1 = b2

2006-09-03 13:09:12 · answer #4 · answered by Anonymous · 0 0

A=0.5*(b1+b2)h
divide both sides by h

A/h=0.5*(b1+b2)
multiple both sides by 2
2A/h=b1+b2

solve for b2

b2= 2A/h - b1

or b2 = (2A-b1*h)/h

are you sure of the equation
if you are then
A=1/2(b1+b2)h
2A= (b1+b2)h
( 2A/h) = b1+ b2
( 2A/h) - b1 = b2
