maximise it first, then click the view tab and select full screen, next, click the minimise button and this will set your browser to open maximised, at least until you change it again

Try this: it used to work on Windows 98 but I'm not sure of XP
Hold the Shift key down when you close the window (assuming it wax maximized). This makes it remember how to open it next time.
Simple / worth a try

Stretch it out manually such as you're doing then close it utilising the go out command interior the menu,(record> go out) dont use the purple X. Then next time you open it it is going to open maximized.

When u open it, resize it to max using click-&-drag, not the maximise button. The next time u open it, it'll open in the size it closed in. I hope this works for u.

Choose its icon:

1. right click - choose properties -
2. choose shortcut tab
3. find run:
here the choices are Normal window/Minimized/Maximised
4. Obviously chose Maximised in the selection box

That is all.
