Within the male body, the urethra, which travels from the glans penis to the urinary bladder, is connected to the ejaculatory canal within the center of the prostrate. During arousal, the urethral sphincter muscle acts to close the urethra above this junction to prevent semen from entering the urinary bladder. What you are experiencing, is your body trying to relax this muscle before its time. The urge to urinate more than likely comes from stimulation in the prostrate and urethra. Its common. As for the girl that said she has the same thing, hers is being caused by pressure on the urinary bladder from intercourse. Hope this helps.

This is actually a pretty common issue for men. In a male orgasm, there are rapid, rhythmic contractions of the prostate, urethra and the muscles at the base of the penis, which typically (but not always) also cause a man to be expel stored semen through the penis's urethral opening. The cause for difficult urination following an orgasm is also do to these spasms and contractions. It just takes a little while for the prostate, urethra, and the muscles to return to their normal state and allow normal urine flow.

A lot of men still have an enlarged prostate after sex even if their erection is gone down. That could also be the reason he feels the urge to go and probably doesn't have the need to go. If he is really concerned about it he should see his urologist or get his doctor to refer him to one.

Pee and come travel down the same tube. Obiously you dont want both at the same time, so during sex it shuts of the 'door' to the bladder. It can sometimes take a while to re-open, thats all.

Without knowing how old he is, I am thinking he has an enlarged prostate a condition common to older men. It can start in their thirties and is called benign prostatic hyperplasia. This is not cancer but he needs to have PSA blood test done as soon as possible to rule out the possibility of prostate cancer. The good news is prostate cancer can be easily cured in the early stages.

I'm not a man, I'm a laydee - but the same thing happens to me after an orgasm. I have no idea why, but I don't care much.

Because the spongy tissue in there is still engorged from the sexual activity. It has to go down a little and then he can urinate. He shouldn't rush in there so fast. He should be in bed hugging you post-coitus anyway.

It sounds a bit banal, but the next time it happens, tell him to sit down and pee. That works for me.
