I usually ask more defined questions but I wanted everyone to have forum to say what they thought of Agassi.

I think Andre Agassi is one of the most gracious tennis players EVER. I'm not talking about winning championships and such. Just in general an all around good guy. I have a friend that works closely with tennis players. He says that Andre is one of the nicest guys you could ever meet. I've seen many sporting events in my life and the one thing I regret is not seeing Andre play. I have a knot in my throat now just thinking about him. I remember when he won Wimbledon. I had just had my wisdom teeth pulled along with 3 other teeth. The MINUTE he won that last point, I sat up in bed and screamed "ANDRE WON, ANDRE WON. YES YES!" My mom came into my room and thought something was wrong with me. My mouth was sore the rest of the day lol. It was well worth the pain to see him win Wimbledon.

I have praised Agassi elsewhere, and will say that he has truly evolved into a terrific guy who has represented himself and the sport with great class. (While you're at it, how about the amazing class shown by Baghdatis right after his defeat, and Nadal was also very deferential to him after beating him at Wimbledon)...

In terms of all-time class in tennis, old school or not, here are the names at the top of my list:

Arthur Ashe --read one of his books if you have any questions...The personification of grace, class and dignity.
Chris Evert...
Federer is on his way

To someone who mentioned Ilie Nastase...I grew up rooting for Nastase, who was one of th most flamboyant, talented players ever. But no, the man was a showman but he had zero class!

Of course it was: ILiE NASTASE; he was the greatest player ever, that could place the ball where ever he wanted and when ever he wanted and more than a great player, he was a showman, the spectators were having also a comedy, beside a great tennis match, so I think even if Federer looks like with his game will brake all the records, however he doesn't have the charm and pleasure to watch also something fun near a great tennis game!!! Again, ILiE NASTASE !!!

i saw his last match today, and i have to say i almost cried when he gave his farewell speech. i don't think anyone has more passion for the game then Agassi. even though he lost today, he himself said quote, "......but what the scoreboard does not realize is that i have found something that i have always been looking for....." even though he did not win, he is still a champion for many of his fans!

You may be right. Sampras also comes to mind but even though he didn't come across as boisterous he did seem pretty arrogant to me. Of course until Federer breaks Sampras' majors record, he is the best of all time.

i grew up with andre from when he was the spikey haired blonde who was all flash...to the awesome, and wonderful man he is today...he isn't only a great tennis player, but he is a great role model for how he is as a husband and as a father..and for all his charity work...he is more than just a tennis player.
