Over the past few years, I have grown to hate Christmas. It is so painful for me and I am dreading the upcoming holiday season. It is mostly because my family just hurts me so much. I feel so inadequate and I just want to hide from them.

Bah Humbug!

I hate the holidays too. Depressing materialism.

I make a point of traveling on holidays...or saying I am, then not answering the phone.

On Christmas, I go to the movies, eat Chinese food, and put my own movies in the dvd so I don't have to be abused by the commercialism.

Good luck.

I sympathize with you. I have a terrible time during the holidays.Start .a new tradition for yourself. Spend some of the day with people that you care about and some time with your family. If your family just hurts you, communicate that to them. If they put you down, minimize the time you spend with them. You could get some counseling and learn how to better deal with them. You have lots of time to strategize. Do so. We are as locked into a situation as we make ourselves. Good luck.

christmas is about sharing and spending time with your family. try to talk to your family members before christmas and tell them how you feel. that should clear up some issues. pray about it. prayer changes things.
