Ian Samwell was the producer, but America recorded the tune. Ian suggested the name "Horse With No Name" as the song was originally titled "Desert Song". Dewey Bunnell wrote it.

There's actually a controversy over who wrote it.While Dewey Bunnell of the band America got the writing credit on the album a lot of people thought Neil Young wrote it but in fact Dewey admits being inspired by Young's "Heart of Gold". and HWNN remains his. Peace!
