Here is my favorite lawn care website:

http://www.yardcare.com/

It will provide information on getting rid of crabgrass as well as information on how to replant your lawn. It covers lawncare in Canada as well as the USA.

Good luck with your lawn.

Crab grass is an annual plant and will die off with the first hard frost. The only way to control it is to treat your lawn in the spring with a pre-emergent crab grass herbicide. Check with a local garden store for the proper time to apply it. There is usually only about a two week window to be effective.

"Green Sweep" in the spring. It attaches to your hose and you spray the lawn. Hardware store or places like Home Depot.
