I have both winrar and winzip. I was trying to download some furniture from modthesims2.com when I figured out that for some reason, I don't have a downloads folder so that they will work in the game. it doesn't work by just putting them in a new folder that i called "downloads", so how do I get one?

I DON't have one. I have looked under EA Games/Sims2 folders.

The folder should be under My Documents-->EA Games-->Downloads. I can't possibly imagine your game would come without one. If you need further help downloading, you should try going to http://thesims2.ea.com/help/index.php?pid=Help . Here they have tutorials, patches, and a place to send tech support questions. Good luck!

make one.
My Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2\Downloads

When you back up your games or install new ones (just to be able to step back if there's a glitch), you need to back up the games and all the sim families you made. You need to store this folder

My Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2\

and everything including Downloads on a CD or somewhere on your hard drive

The folder is in your 'my documents' section under 'EA GAMES'

That is where you will find out where to put everything.
