I attended public school until high school, when I went to the local Catholic *GIRLS* high school. The reasons were varied, but it was thought to be a safer environment and a better education.
Now, we did have an all boys Catholic school across the street from us, so I wasn't in estrogen land, but I still hated the first six months. I didn't know anyone, I had to wear this annoying uniform, and it was so blinking much smaller than what I was used to.
But after the first semester, I grew to love the experience. I got a Catholic education, but other than being in a Catholic environment, I didn't feel like it was being shoved down my throat. I had a classmate who was Hindu and one who was atheist, and I had the chance to not only take religion classes where I learned more about the Catholic church, but I got to do community service and learn about other religions.
I got to do all the normal high school stuff and, oddly enough, I started swearing and all that AFTER I started attending a Catholic School. (I was SUCH a little goodie twoshoes in public school.) Bottom line is that in the end, I found it to be a great experience. It's not for everyone, but it isn't alway a nightmare, either.

My husband transferred from our local high school to a Catholic school and he absolutely loved it. He told me that he wished that I would have gone there because it was so much better and with more friendlier people than our school was--which totally sucked. I mean our public school had knowledgeable teachers, but it was a small school and the teachers and the students were so mean and rude. It is a wonder anyone had any confidence at all. It was a horrifying experience for me.

I went to a Catholic school in the 1st and 2nd grade and I loved it. I loved my teachers especially. I lived in the inner city at the time and we moved to the suburbs right before I started the 3rd grade and I had to go to the public school bc my parents couldn't afford the Catholic. I hated public school. The kids were so ignorant, mean, and racist. When I have kids if I can afford to send them to a Catholic school I defiantely will!

Bravo to you for teaching, and in a Catholic school!
I went from a non-religious, small private grammar school to Catholic high school and the first year of college at a Catholic college. I liked the faculty and the curriculum, but the kids were mean to nerdy little me in h.s. But I don't think that's because it was a Catholic school, it could happen anywhere.
I'm now a 50 year old mom and practicing Catholic. We began our kids' schooling by homeschooling using a Catholic curriculum. When my kids were partway through fifth, fourth and first grades, we switched to Catholic elementary school. My sense has been that they liked it, other than the kinds of things kids complain about in any school.
I now have two seniors in SUNY (State U of NY) colleges, a freshman at St John's in Long Island, and a seventh grader and tenth grader in Catholic schools. I'd do it all again!
OTOH, I volunteer as a cafeteria monitor in my kids' Catholic elementary school, and one of my main motivations is that I'm a very kind and patient person, and I want to be sure these kids have memories of someone PLEASANTLY conversing with them and disciplining them in THEIR Catholic school years; the lay monitors I witnessed in this role a few years ago acted very angry and unChristian!

I attended grades 1 - 4, and had wonderful teachers who made learning fun. When my mother transferred me to the public school system, I didn't have to work again for the next 2 years!

I attended Catholic School grades, 1 to 8. And had totally
enjoyed it.
I have heard many horror stories from my same age group friends who attended different Catholic schools.
I really find these stories to be childhood memories for them.
I did not experience any problems, etc.
Also, my best grades were in Catholic school.
Thanks.

individually, i'm in 8th grade at a Catholic college preparatory college and could be attending the precise sort of high school. I even have long previous to my college because kindergarten, and can surely help every physique who has this question. in the previous I initiate out, I m going to assert that each and every college is distinctive. From what I ve heard approximately public faculties, Catholic college is lots greater complicated. it will make you paintings, besides the indisputable fact that it s all greater appropriate for you contained in the long-term. the lecturers care approximately your studying and could do extraordinarily much something to help. by the way, nuns are an fantastically stereotypical area. as an occasion, my college has no nuns coaching. even with the actuality that, on the highschool I ll be attending, there are greater or less 5 nuns. Nuns actually are very candy, and that they in general don t even ideas the way you act. At each and every college, there will be good and undesirable youngsters, mean and advantageous youngsters, etc. overall, I even have met an equivalent ratio of this. that's the comparable from that component, yet you won t have any adverse families at Catholic faculties. each and every is incredibly fortunate, and a few scholars take it to extremes. merely be advantageous to all and sundry you meet, and you ll come across a team you slot with. I even have individually had good and undesirable moments over the previous 9 years of attending my college. For the main area, i admire each and every thing approximately my college. I surely see greater youngsters loving their college right here than at public faculties. one element that i individually love is that we get particular days off, referred to as the Holy Days of criminal accountability. If every physique attends Catholic college and is reading this, you comprehend precisely what I m talking approximately. yet aside from that, i admire the college, scholars, lecturers, and athletics. And, in many cases, we are greater tech savvy than different faculties that's incredibly advantageous. My very final assertion is that it rather relies upon on what you like and who you're. in case you rather care approximately lecturers, then probability is, inner maximum college is the perfect place for you. yet once you have a tendency to no longer care and take place to be a social butterfly, public is in all probability precise for you. i'm hoping this facilitates every physique. x

No. I did not attend Catholic school. Read Sylvia Browne's My Life As A Psychic. She attended and later taught at a Catholic school and loved it.

I went during the 60's. I have good and bad memories. I heard a great comment made by someone. "You can't scare me, I went to Catholic school".
