There arent enough ethnic dolls on the market. From what I have seen, MOST white families only have white dolls for their children. Not because they are racist or against black dolls, but more because sometimes you have to actually LOOK for a nice quality black doll. Alot of black families will buy BOTH because they want that child to have a value of self, as well as appreciation for others. Its easier to find black dolls in black communities, but those same black communities MUST carry the more popular and more profitable white dolls.

Yes. Why not? Would you buy a blonde doll if you are a brunette or vice-versa?
I had dolls of all different races when I was little. The world is made up of people of all races and my Barbies reflected that!

When I was a little girl I saw this doll called Hispanica Barbie, and I thought she was so beautiful, I eventually got her as a gift and she became one of my favorites. My daughter has all different kinds of dolls, both her baby dolls and Barbies are made up of several different races. It's never even been an issue for us, she sees one she thinks is beautiful and we end up getting it for her when a special occasion rolls around. She's never commented on what color they may be, and we don't either. Dolls, like people, of all races are beautiful.

Um, I don't have a need for a doll in the first place as I'm a teenager, but my little sister has all sorts of races of dolls. (And as a kid, I did too.)

Of course, nothings wrong with having a doll of a different race. It shows that your comfortable with people of different races.

If I bought dolls, I'd have no problem with it. My mom collects dolls and a few of hers are other races -- they're just as beautiful.

when i was little i had a dol that looked like she was spanish....and my cuzin has a black doll. i don't think it matters to kids what race the doll is and it generally doesn't matter to parents as long as it keeps the kids busy and out of there hair! lol.
