We have always used a mixture of white vinegar & water for pet stains. A professional carpet cleaner told us to use that. She said that the carpet cleaners you buy at the store are no good. They have soap in them to get the stain out. Because of the soap, it will actually collect and trap more dirt there. So you will be cleaning that spot again.

Use a diluted solution of oxyclean, apply with a sponge, blot dry with a clean towel. I have used it to clean marinara sauce up. It completely got rid of it.

Resolve Carpet cleaner is also great as a spot remover.
