If so, Achilles was gay?

The legends about Achilles don't specify any homosexual feelings. They just refer to Patroclus as Achilles' cousin. It is possible that they were close as a family, perhaps emotionally brothers. That would explain Achilles' rage at Hector for killing Patroclus in war--he took the death very personally, as if it were a murder.

However, Achilles was known as a hound dog! Woman after woman after woman ....

Homosexuality was apparantly encouraged in the Grecian culture, however, especially among soldiers who were gone from home for long periods of time. It was thought to create a closer camradrie in the ranks.

Nobody really knows.

Pat was his cousin or relative (differnet accounts from different places)...however every scholar paints the two in a "very close" way. I'm not sure if that is intended to mean they were like brothers and always around each other....or if they were in fact involved with one another. Either was possible and not condemned in that time period.

Its very difficult to conclude any Greek man of the time period was gay, because almost anything was accepted and not frowned upon. Many people of that era had the choice to choose whatever they wanted and act upon it. Even Alexander the Great, although a great military mind and ruler and husband to numberous women, could have had his own affairs. and that is almost evident when his "close friend" was killed in one battle and Alexander all but lost heart in his victories...basically lost his edge.

I think so, but on some web sites they say that he was Achilles nephew. His sisters son. But on the movie he and Achilles were cousins. If Achilles were gay I'd think I'd cry; his story is to cool for him to be playing house with another boy toy.
