ok here is the real truth. It's nothing but a label used to classify someone. There are however different meanings for the term emo. It started as a genre of music in the 1980's but later became a style as well. It refers to someone with hair long in the front of there face but it doesn't have to be in the back. (most of the time black) Skinny jeans are also popular and band shirts. You may hear that we are people who cut ourselves or are always depressed which is nothing but a stereotype because I have never cut and I am happy with my life and the way I am now is just who I fell I am. Like everyone else.

Emo- well it depends if you mean the style, the attitude, or the music. In music world, it stands for Emotional Hardcore, and some bands considered emo are Hawthorne Heights and Thursday. Emo music is not very respected, and emo tends to have high pitched vocals and screamo. People who dress emo (usally ones that listen to it also) tend to have straight long black hair. The new thing for guys is to wear tight girl jeans (eww i know :P). The attitude, and some may argue this is a sterotype, is that emo's are depressed and cut their wrists....

emo=emotional... but a true emo isn't goth at all. emo is merely an offshoot of the hardcore scene of the late 80s. they're "emotional" for political reasons, NOT psychological ones, i.e. your standard goth with runny eyeliner.

- An entire subculture of people (usually angsty teens) with a fake personality. The concept of Emo is actually a vicious cycle that never ends, to the utter failing of humanity, and it goes something like this:
1. Girls say they like "sensitive guys" (lie)
2. Guy finds out, so he listens to ***** emo music and dresses like a dork so chicks will see that he is sensitive and not afraid to express himself (lie). He dyes his hair black, wraps himself in a stupid looking scarf, develops an eating disorder, and rants about how "nobody understands".
3. Now an emo guy, he meets Emo chick and they start dating, talking about how their well-off suburban lifestyles are terrible and depressing (lie)
4. Emo guy is just too much of a pussy. His penis is too small, he's too depressed to bathe, and has more mood swings than emo chick, and he doesn't even have a menstrual cycle. Emo chick dumps him, saying "It's not you, it's me." (lie) as she drives off with Wayne, the school jock and captain of the football team.
5. Emo guy goes home and cries, proceeds to write a weak song and strum a single string on his acoustic guitar. Another emo chick sees how he is so in touch with his feelings, and the cycle continues.
This is the sad truth of the emo lifestyle/music, and now that I look at how pathetic it really is, maybe the emos DO have something to cry about!
ex. When she sees how sensitive and emo I have become, she'll definately go out with me!
