.. the 80s’ seemed like the best time to be a kid.. with the blimpie sandwich parties, my megaman trapper-keeper, Michael Jackson, and those cool geography/science textbooks. also bmx huffy bicycles, g.i.joe & transformers, and the orig nintendo. It's been 17 yrs, but my school still has the same principal. isn't that's amazing..

mary kate: huffy was a popular bike brand. and bmx (bicycle motocross x) was a bicycle with very small wheels, which resembled off-road motocross bikes and ppl used to do all sorts of crazy stunts.. but i just used it to take rides in the park and visit my nearest comic book shop.

Wow! I grew up in the 80's too and I can relate. But for me that seems like a hundred years ago. You made it sound so close, but to me it seems so far away like the land of no return. Maybe it's because I grew up in a place where everything has changed so dramatically and my childhood is pretty much gone, (even though I'm not that old).

Yep! My town had just built a central elementary school. Before that, there were all these little four-room school houses all about town. My first grade (Mrs. Stewart) was shared with the second grade. I remembered going into the new building for second grade (Miss England). It seemed so huge. I've gone back to visit as an adult and counted 12 homerooms! Funny your perspective as a child, eh?!

I remember all my teachers EXCEPT my 2nd grade ones. Why I can't remember them over all the others I'll never know (I can remember their faces though. Heck, I can remember some of the subs names and not theirs!). I'm 26, and I'm a substitute teacher. I went to my old Elementary school for the first time earlier this year in years, and I saw the same Music teacher, one of my old Kindergarten teachers who was old when I was young (heck, my 30 year old cousin had her for Kindergarten as well!), and several of the office staff that were there when I was there!

Your School principle still there????? that is Amazing he/she must of had been working there for a long time I think the will retire sooner or later though. yeah I was thinking the same thing too. I think if you can goo the Unifire school District office to get your old teacher email address and write to him/her I wanted to do the same thing for elementary school, middle school and high school. I think they would be mazing how we grow up espeically when we were caught talking in class and more trouble somes haha.

Yep, sure do... now they have turned my Elementary school into an Extended day school and built a new elementary school. And I have to agree, that was an eaiser time of life.. Raising kids now is scary and hard... and they have so much more to learn then we did, they struggle so hard and dont have enough time in the school year to learn it all.... God Bless the 80's
