It has already been announced to be Lisa Leslie, but I was wondering what the fans and general public think. I personally think Leslie should win it, slightly over Taurasi.

I think it depends on how you think of MVP.
Do you take it for the face value of the words? Most Valuable Player to their team. If so I think Taurasi. Without Diana, the Mercury wouldn't be what they have been for the past three years. They can only get better with her. She plays outstandingly well on a nightly baises. She is there when her team needs her and understands which situations call for certain things. She scored 54 points in one game. The Pheonix Mercury wouldn't be the same without her.
Or do you take it as the player who has made the most impact on the game itself (the leauge as a whole)?
Then I still feel its Taurasi. She broke at least three records this season. Her team missed the playoff 1) they were missing players at the beginning of the season and 2) they didnt have control over thier fate at the end of the season. They went on a 7 game winning streak that without Diana I don't think would have been possible.
But you can also see it as the most valuable player on the best team (not necisarly the champship winning team).
Then I think Lisa Leslie should win it. She was outstanding on an outstanding team. She has changed the face of women's basketball forever. She was an original player.
I agree with the fact that Lisa Leslie won the MVP award, but would have loved to see Diana Taursai win it because of the outstanding second half she had.

The WNBA MVP should definitely go to their Director of Marketing; the league has increased total number of fans from 76 to 102 in just one season.
