The smell is that of hydrogen sulphide. He needs a GP I am not a GP.
I would guess either/and or, the eggs are not properly cooked, or he is allergic to eggs. I never eat boiled eggs only scrambled so that the gases can disperse. I think his GP can help you out with tests etc., Constipation, binding effect of eggs on the bowel.

There is a Bacteria called Giardia - Think that's spelt right - which you pick up from dirty water. It has a life cycle of around 3 years and when it dies out, it rots in the stomach causing sulphur burps, bloating, trapped wind and stomach cramps. Ususlly this lasts a day or so and then your body has a mild case of diarhorea which clears the system. It's nothing to worry about, but does recur every few years. Don't know if there is anything that can be done about it.
Reply to Lucy:
As the bacterial cause is quite rare and I didn't know what effect it could have on a child, and I thought it was important to get it checked out. Of course, I realise that there is more than one cause, but I understand what you are saying and you are right. I didn't intend to cause worry to the asker and I apologise if it did.

I used to get rotten egg burps all the time when I was a kid and have no lasting effects from it and am now 29 years old. it could be IBS which I do have, or it could be something he's eating, you should tell his mother to put him on a restictive diet and reintroduce foods back into his system bit by bit, each new type of food should be introduced over a four day period to see if there are any effects before introducing another food.
A restrictive diet would be going back to basics with the food, cooking from scratch and restricting dairy, yeast, fish and other types of commenly alergic, or processed foods. wait one week before reintroduction begins to clear as much from his system as possible, then start with dairy. in the meantime, if she is worried about him loosing out on essential nutrients, then get him some vitamin tablets, or blue green algae powder from a health food store, which you can add to his food without him knowing, blue green algae contains every sort of nutrient known to man except a couple of amino acids. the restriction diet should stop the cramps within a couple of days, if not then it's not his diet or a food sensitivity, and she'll want to take him to the doctor.
Kingofclubsuk, I had rotten egg burps throughout my childhood and our water source was from two fresh springs that crossed underneath our land, we literally had a pump house to pump this water directly into our home, and I never travelled anywhere when I was a kid, really, nowhere, so didn't get it from any exotic travels. not criticising, just pointing out that there may be more then one cause of this smelly burp.

It sounds like the same parasite(Giardiasis)
that my sister, her husband, and my nephews contracted a few years back. Maalox really helped them during that time as it spread from one person to the next. There is moderate to severe stomach pain accompanied by diarrhea and whenever the person passes any wind IT STINKS UP THE WHOLE ROOM SOMETHING AWFUL!! The odor is very dense and tends to linger for a while. The infection went away on its own after some time, but, man was it absolute torture to be within ten feet of that smell! Read This Info:
http://www.cdc.gov
/ncidod/dpd/parasites/
giardiasis/factsht_giardia.htm
REPLY TO Lucy and Kingofclubsuk: The CDC has this posted on the info page for this parasite: Swallowing recreational water contaminated with Giardia. Recreational water includes water in swimming pools, hot tubs, jacuzzis, fountains, lakes, rivers, springs, ponds, or streams that can be contaminated with sewage or feces from humans or animals. So you are both correct in your theories:)

The most natural and healthy diet for humans is an omnivorous diet, and not a plant based diet, or a meat-based diet per se. The Paleo Diet can be very widely varied and omnivorous for the most part, but the most important thing is that it’s unprocessed, and avoids the worst foods that agriculture brought mankind… refined inflammatory vegetable oils, refined grains (some are worse than others), and sugar! Learn here https://tr.im/WREON
As you can see, the benefits of adopting a Paleo way of eating can be incredible! I’ve been eating 95% Paleo for the last 5-6 years and I’ve never felt better. I have dozens of friends that have adopted a more Paleo way of eating too, and have seen all sorts of health problems disappear, including eliminating acne and other skin problems, digestion problems, improving brain clarity, and of course, losing a lot of body fat!

I don't know what causes that odor but, I know what you mean. I'm sure you will be checking with the doctor on Tuesday so the poor kid doesn't have cramps anymore. If his cramps get worse, he might need to be seen over the weekend at an Urgent Care. Try warm baths and tummy rubs and simethicone for relief of gas pains. Keep track of BMs for the doctor.

Probably eating too much of rich foods particularly fatty meat. The egg smell is sulphur and yes- it's nasty! Tryt to keep your son on a more bland diet and see how he fares. If it continues(although this will embarass him) Go to the doctors and get it checked out!

i think it has something to do with too much acid in the stomach. Try to give him malanta or baking soda and water and see if it helps. It is really not normal to have too much gas in the body on a regular basis.

What your smelling is sulfa and more than likely these burps are the reslt of some blockage in your intestine (constipation) or food in your stomach that is having trouble passing.
