Does anyone know why they decide to where the red jerseys?

The days starting pitcher is normally the one who chooses what jersey the team wears.

The question was directed to Red Sox fans.......where was the evil empire and their comments back in June?.......
I don't know how they pick the color of the jerseys, but I hate people who butt their opinion when it's not asked of them....their only proud and like to brag when their in first......remember you will always be remembered for greatest choke in history....ALCS 2004 up 3-0.....and losing the next 4

i dont like the red sox at all but i do like then better then the ny yankees........ppl gotta stop talking about the red sox and yankees for aleast one day i always see a question about those 2 teams cant u talk about another team besides the red sox and yankees ?

Its an alternate jersey. Its really just to change things up a bit. I dont think theres a specific publicly announced schedule for it. Most other teams have them too (NYY and STL are two notable exceptions).

They usually only wear them on day games. A few teams have different home uniforms, like the Angels.
