I've seen this happen in relationships where they have lived together for a long time and then got married. Its as though the marriage is just too much of a commitment and they feel stuck with no way of escape (other than divorce). If they were still just living together they still have the option of walking away from the relationship quite easily, although the majority of people I know who have done this have children, so either way someone is going to get hurt. Usually the kids.

It isn't always because lust brought them together. Sometimes people do actually love each other then marriage shifts the goal posts in a relationship and some can handle it, some can't. Also, affairs, etc. Some people are just designed not to be faithful but can't help themselves from getting too involved - to the point of marriage.

The first year of marriage is the hardest year, each others faults appear in that time.
You either can put up with them or you can't and mainly due to divorce being so easy these days people can give in faster on the marriage.

Some people get married for the wrong reasons. For instance, marrying someone because you are sexually attracted to that person. Well that's great but after the "honeymoon period" all of the other person's little quirks start to annoy you and you.

They probably weren't ready to begin with, but liked the sound of being married. Then when they realized it wasn't going to be easy, they backed out right away. I always feel bad for the people they invited to their weddings because they spent money on gifts all for nothing.

two reasons come to mind.... 1 is people fall in lust and have no concept of what love is and how much work it is to keep it going, i personally hate hearing the confustion of love and lust and its becoming more and more of an problem becuase as soon as the shinny lust turns dull they realize there isnt any glitz left and they bolt. which leads to another hot botton of mine people break out of marriages these days just as easy as they wield their easly broken promises, people say some thing and as soon as it is not convienet any more they break it saying i feel like its for the best and then run right back out and make another promise before god and family till death do you part.... i not sure about most but my mother raised somone to honor at all cost your words of promise and she would be extremely upset to here i think so lil of myself and my own words and use it willy nilly.

Unfortunatly for some people marriage is like going steady. Give it a try and if it doesn't work the move on to the next best thing.

I think most people really don't know what they get themselves into, they take marriage lightly, some even go as far as thinking that there wont be arguments, or fights. some people just aren't ready for that kind of thing, so that's why some marriages don't work out.

Because they aren't getting married for the right reason. It's probably because once the newness wears off they realize that they have nothing in common and it's over.

It happened to me. I was just stupid in thinking I would show him how a real family should be. He was having an affair before our 1st anniversary if not before we were even married.
He had no respect for marriage or the fact it was a vow before God.
