yeppers, that's what it is. i'd recommend pvc or lino flooring, though. the people who are now scoffing your laminate will only dirty the carpet too, and pvc and lino are easier to keep clean.
sj - excellent point about the shagpile, i'll never look at my bedroom carpet (oh dear) with the same eyes again...

The Earth's circumference depends on your point and direction on Earth. For example, your trip from the North Pole southward to the South Pole then back to the North Pole is a shorter distance than looping the Earth via the Equator. Earth is measured somewhere near 26,000 miles in circumference; however, due to Earth's rotation, it bulges out ever so slightly around the Equator. Picture what a tennis ball after it has been struck...the ball is elongated about it's axis of rotation. Earth is the same principle, just not so extreme.

With all this carpet i think I'll open an earth store and provide fitted earth in peoples living rooms.
Seriously although its only 25000 miles approx around, when you look at it as a typical 12" childs globe, the atmosphere to scale around it would be only 0.1 inches deep. one good puff from a cosmic storm and it's gone.

The earth has a circumference of approximately 24,900 miles.
More precisely the circumference of the earth
at the equator is 24,902 mi / 40,076 km.
As you go from 0 degrees latitude (the equator) to 90 degrees (north or south poles), the circumference of the circle defined by that latitude line will decrease in direct proportion to the cosine of the angle of latitude. Thus, the circumference of the circle is
C = 2 pi r cos(x).

Yep that's just about right, though it is further travelling East to West than it is North to South which is why your body mass is slightly more at the North and South poles than it is on the Equator. You really wanted to know that didn't you. Lot of carpet. Nice contract though.

The circumference of the earth at the equator is 24,901.55 miles (40,075.16 kilometers).
However, if you measure the earth through the poles the circumference is a bit shorter - 24,859.82 miles (40,008 km). There's a slight bulge at the equator, caused by the fluid interior of the earth, and the earth's rotation

What sort of carpet? A nice thick shag pile (dodgey carpet name!) or something flatter and easier to hoover? Don't forget to get it Scotchguarded to protect from spills and stains.
