light shimmery color for the highlighter (up right under the brows and right on the lower lid)... medium nuetral brown color for in between those two.. (right on the brow bone) and then a darker color making a V.. the V will be open towards your inner eye..

This is what I do and i have very dark brown eyes... use a lot of mascara to make ur eyes pop... dont go dramatic anywhere else but the eyes... eyes are your focal point

Brown eyes look good in grays, blues, purples and greens. Take your eyeshadow and apply it dry shadow to lid, then wet your applicator, dip in same color, and draw a line close to upper lash line. You'll get a subtle contrast of shading that'll make you a standout. You can also use it as a liner. Take your sponge-tipped applicator and apply close to lash line. Smudge on lid for smokier effects

Deep forest green, indigo, and if you have darker skin, use deep purple for an amazing effect, especially if you apply a light shimmer over the eyeshadow. :)

I would say natural tones. You can pretty much use any color, but sticking to natural, earthy tones (you can get blues, mauve/rose and greens in there too) is a good bet.
