well dear Jessica . i would tell you about slope.
Slope Formula
The formula for the slope of the straight line going through the points (x1, y1) and (x 2, y 2) is given by:

M = ( Y1 - Y2) /( X1 - X2)

The subscripts refer to the two points.
(m=rise/run)

Note:
Parallel lines have equal slope.
Perpendicular lines have negative reciprocal slopes.

so now we have ;
if (4,-1) , (2 , 3) so;
x1 = 4 ,x2 = 2 , y1 = -1 & y2 = 3

M = ( 3-(-1)) / ( 2-4)
M = 4 / -2 = -2
M = -2
and now the slope is negative, it means we have Perpendicular lines .

good luck darling , i hope i could help you perfectly.

Slope is computed as the change in Y (delta Y) over the change in X (delta X). Delta means "change in."

In standard coordinates X is always first (X,Y).

Therefore, delta Y in this case is (-1) - 3 = -4

Delta X is 4 - 2 = 2

Therefore the slope delta Y/ delta X is -4/2 or -2.

Four over to the right, neg. one down. for point (A) and two over to the right and three up for point (B). The line connecting these two points slants down (starting at zero and looking to the right) therefore it is a negative slope (-). The rate at which it goes down is the difference between the two points. 4 vertical and 2 across. Therefore 4/2 = 2. Because it slopes down left to right the answer is -2. Easier now?

The slope is given by delta-y / delta-x. In this example, delta-y is 3 - (-1), or 4; delta-x is 2 - 4 or -2, so the slope is -2.
