There is no reset switch. What he told you is the best way to get it running. Turn the key on, count to 4, then off. Count to 5, then back on again. Try it 5 or 6 times, they try to start it.

HOWEVER---if it still won't start, there is the possibility that it isn't out of fuel, but the pump may have failed.
The problem with today's cars is that the fuel pump is in the fuel tank. If the driver consistently makes it a habit of driving on less than a 1/4 tank of fuel ALL THE TIME, there isn't enough fuel to absorb and dissipate the heat generated by the pump. This heat will eventually cause the pump to fail.
Turn the key on, and LISTEN very closely for the first 3 or 4 seconds. Do you hear a "HUM" from the tank? If not the pump may be dead.
