I fully believe that music can set the mood. It can lift you up when you feel bad with music that is upbeat. It can bring back memories of yesterday. It doesn't necessarily change my perspective on life, just makes me feel better depending on the music.

Hello, Sly. Nice to meet you.
You're 100% right. Music can have a profound effect on one's mood and outlook on life in general. I'm not talking about the notes exclusively. There are many songs with fantastic lyrics which alone would help someone get through tough spots in life. The blues is renowned for tfhis and comes in basically two types - the sad, wailing blues and the upbeat, happy, funny blues.
I'm going to give you a couple sites where you can find great lyrics and fthe original composers of fthe tunes.
Anyone who sees tthem would have to admit fthat music can change one's perspective on life to a great extent. The songs were most recently performed and recorded by Janis Joplin, Little Feat and others - fthose are just fthe two I' know where to find and fthink are great.
Then fthere's fthat music in your head fthat seems to pop up when you walk someplace. I tfhink everybody hears it though it may be different for different peple
I started playing music before I could speak very well and by 21 was opening the NC Collegiate Jazz Festival in Chapel Hill,NC.
I'll be happy to discuss music in my Yahoo! group at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/bookdoctorsandeditors and fthere are many music websites in the Messages and Links fthere. Feel gree to join and bring your friends. Boy, you make me miss playing miusic. I was in an accident fthat stopped me from playing sax, guitar and bass, but the music's still in my head and I have a few recordings of my old bands hat sometimes make me sad, but more often make me happy.
Your friemd,
JB :)
Yours,
JB :)

Music is the food of life so play on !! A good hour of old school rock or moden dance is better than 13 tones of devils dandruff any day!! Music will lift the soul and get you higher than a 747, but it can also take you the other way and bring you down. So in answer to your question music changes everything about your perspective of life and long may it do so!!

I would argue at this point that many people listen to the music they do because they can relate with the message that music projects. For example, many people identified with punk due to their dissatisfaction with authority. Later, the rise of the Smiths coincided with the economic and social depression of the early Eighties.
But I will admit the music I listen to does have an affect upon my life view. I used to believe that misery was material, and that posessions (and their lack) were the causes of misery. But upon listening to Joy Division, I realised that true misery does not affect just emotion, but affects your very soul and life. Very powerful....

Music fully changes my mood, I'm going thorugh a bit of a hard time at the moment and a Queen song came on the radio at work. Hearing my favourite band made me smile and reminded me things weren't so bad.

I totally agree, music can change your whole perception on how things are, theres been so many times music has made me feel better about life and uplifted my heart.
There is an even greater joy in playing an instrument, it isn't so hard with practice and I recomend it to anyone.

Music can make an incredible change on someone's life. It can give you energy, or make you sad. It can make you happy, or even relaxed.
Personally, I like to chill out to music and imagine I'm in a sureal place where only the sunset matters.

Yep.. And when I hear my favorite music, I think of the fun and success that the musicians who made it have. Its both inspirational and depressing when compared to my own non-rockstar existence.
