Seizure is the result of epilepsy.

But if you don't have epilepsy and got injured on the head, that may make you epileptic. It's one of the reasons of epilepsy, damage on head.

Your brain is very complex. It is made up from millions of nerve cells called neurones that control your body's functions, senses and thoughts. The neurones communicate with each other using very small electrical signals. A fit or seizure happens when there is a brief change or break in the way cells normally send and receive these electrical signals.

Epilepsy is a condition where a person has repeated fits or seizures. A seizure happens because the normal working of the brain is interrupted. Having one seizure does not necessarily mean you have epilepsy: the definition of epilepsy is more than one seizure.

Epilepsy is common. Around 1 in 30 people in the UK develop epilepsy at some point in their life. Epilepsy can affect anyone, and it can develop at any age. However, it is usually diagnosed before the age of 20 or after the age of 60.

Epilepsy is more common in people with certain disabilities. About a third of people with a learning difficulty have some form of epilepsy. Having a learning disability does not cause epilepsy and nor does epilepsy cause a learning disability. Both epilepsy and learning disabilities are a result of the brain working in an abnormal way.

There are different types of seizure and symptoms can vary. You may lose consciousness, have muscle contractions (your arms and legs may twitch and jerk), or your body may shake or become stiff. Seizures usually last between a few seconds and several minutes. Brain activity then returns to normal.

Medication is usually very successful for treating epilepsy. In 4 out of 5 cases, treatment can reduce the number of seizures a person has. Sometimes, treatment can stop seizures happening altogether.

A seizure is the act where there is uncontrolled electrical activity in a specific region of the brain, or a generalized electrical disturbance in the brain. Epilepsy is a disorder where the primary presenting symptom is seizures.

Seizures can be induced by any of a number of different causes including metabolic, traumatic, pathologic, fever-induced and a many others. If you have had a seizure after having had a fall and striking your head, you ABSOLUTELY MUST BE CHECKED OUT at the hospital.

A seizure is a one time experience. But epilepsy is different, you have a recurrence of seizure's, that doesn't stop, that's the only difference.
And yes it can, if you hit your head hard enough, it can scar the brain, which can cause seizure''s. If you think you have seizure's it would best too go to a doctor as soon as possible. There he can diagnose you, and treat you.

Seizures are one of the symptoms of epilepsy. Seizures are not however unique to epilepsy. Other disturbances of the brain can cause them, trauma for one (your fall down the stairs). As for epilepsy, we aren't wholly sure what causes it, but it is suspected to be a highly genetic factor.

I assume that you are under a doctor's care. If not you should be and you should be thoroughly checked because of your accident.

Epilepsy is one of many possible causes of seizures. As far the head injury goes, I don't know that it can cause epilepsy. It can cause seizures but it all depends on how hard you hit your head, and what part of your head you hit-but head injuries can be very serious. If you didn't go to a doctor, you should go ASAP.

nope, epilepsy is a condition of the brain. ive had a seizure brought on by heat stroke, had nothing to do with epilepsy

Wikipedia says..........Seizures (or convulsions) are temporary abnormal electrophysiologic phenomena of the brain, resulting in abnormal synchronization of electrical neuronal activity. They can manifest as an alteration in mental state, tonic or clonic movements and various other symptoms. They are due to temporary abnormal electrical activity of a group of brain cells. The medical syndrome of recurrent, unprovoked seizures is termed epilepsy, but some seizures may occur in humans who do not have epilepsy.

Epilepsy, definded by the American Heritage Dictiony is described as "Any of various neurological disorders characterized by sudden recurring attacks of motor, sensory, or psychic malfunction with or without loss of consciousness or convulsive seizures"
