why is my coolient from my radaitor going into my over flow now this only happens when the car sits for a long period of time when heated up to normal operating temp it just keeps climbing and no heat from the heater just cold air and the over flow is full of coolient i shut the car off before it over heats i release the radaitor cap and of course hot coolient pushes out when the cap is released i retighten the cap and start the car the temp gose down i now have heat and the over flow is normal i can drive the car now one more thing this engine is a 3100 V-6 the year is 1995 maker GM it has new head gaskets bolts water pump thermostat radaitor and coolient and the heads where rebuilt any ideas

System is clogged,needs flushing and possible radatior service
(needs "roded out")

Heater core is full of debris.

Try flushing your cooling system with some of that prestone flush from the parts house, the directions are on the back of the bottle it is pretty easy, you may want to pick up a new radiator cap while you are there.

Sounds like the thermostat is stuck closed. You will need to replace it, and make sure you don't have a "bubble" of air in the system or the heat will still not work properly..Good luck.

you have air in the system, you need to "burp" it....turn the car on take the rad. cap off and put water in it....keep putting water in it till all the bubbles are out....you should be able to stick you finger in the rad cap hole and when the fluid is warm-hot you can replace the lid.......
