your battery may be no good, check to see if you have 12 volts from it after it's fully charged with a battery charger, or you can take it to a major auto parts store and most of them have a load tester to see if the battery really is the problem, or if your alternator isn't putting out enough voltage. Also check the connections on your battery to make sure they're not loose, if they have corrosion on them thats a sure sign your not getting enough voltage to the starter for it to start.

Bad alternator. Once started the car should be able to run on the power of the alternator alone. As a matter of fact, that is how the ignition system is designed to work. The battery is for starting only. BUT if the battery is bad it'll drain the alternator and burn it out. This can also cause the voltage regulator to burn out, too. If the car is equipped with a solinoid that will burn out, also. If the car is a Chrysler product the balast resistor will go, too.
Take the car to a shop and have them run tests on the whole electrical system to see what parts are good and which ones need to be replaced.
Next time remember, do NOT run jumper cables between a Chrysler product and those of Ford and Chevy. Chryslers have a difference in their electrical systems that is incompatible with Ford and Chevy.
AND always, ground the end of the jumper cables to the 'dead' car to help prevent power surges.

Try jumping it again and drive it around for a while. Don't turn it off till you get home. It usually takes a little while for them to get fully recharged. If after driving it around, it still doesn't want to restart then it's some other problem. I'm no expert, just had a lot of older cars in my life. You may want to have your alternator checked out.

Bad battery? Replace. Alternator shot? Any alternator shop can bench test it for you usually for no charge. Finally, 10 minutes is hardly enough time to charge a battery. You did not state the type of vehicle (KIA or Ferrari) or how old the battery and other components are.

First step, do the headlights come on? Does the horn work?
If not, you PROBABLY have a failed battery, BUT, let's not get our exercise jumping to conclusions.
Remove the battery terminals and clean them thoroughly and reconnect them insuring that they are SECURE-----then re-try.
If you have a voltmeter, check the static voltage (Battery voltate at rest, not running, no lights on, no accessories on, key off).
Anything less than 12.3 volts is not going to be satisfactory. A fully charged battery should show 12.5 to 12.6 volts.
If it jump-starts, then the rest of the STARTING system is probably OK.
When you get it running, check battery volts at around 1000 RPM. There should be at least 13.8 to 14.5 volts. If the charging voltage is less than 13.0 volts, your charging system is inadequate (Alternator, regulator ??)
Good Luck

Try charging the battery then check it with a load meter that will answer any question about the battery. If it holds a charge then look at the charging system.

it could be the alt. or the battery but if you jump start it the battery will not charge at idle you need to drive the car to build up juice in the battery

the actually reason to attempt it really is to get rid of the plausible spark once you connect the lead from being that on the fringe of the battery. Now a days, someplace round 2008 you're not any more meant to bounce commence a motor vehicle in any respect.

sounds like your battery is not holding a charge. Could also be your alternator is not charging.
