yes on the older computer's u needed 2 diffrent drives but on the new ones you can use the same drive for burning cd's and dVd's

quickest way is to envision the front of the CD/DVD force's drawer. it's going to say DVD-R/RW no count if it rather is a DVD author. Or, precise-click My computing device, decide on residences, click the Hardware tab, click the gadget supervisor button. click the plus + verify in front of DVD/CD-Rom drives and notice what it says.
