Block it by steaming. Lay it on a towel, cover it with a damp towel, and iron the towel --not just press, but iron so steam appears. Let the scarf cool before handling.

Add a border either knit on a decorative border with the same yarn used for the scarf or a contrasting color in the same yarn or a yarn of different texture, I don't know if you crochet or not but if you do that you could easily add a nice border the same way. Or depending on the width of your scarf you could sew it into a tube and add some funk to it by inserting some fabric or even attach fringe on the inside so it looks as though it's spilling out like water. Use your 'mistake' as an excuse for some out of the box creativity that is of-course if your up for it. Anyways hope that helped good luck!

What type of yarn did you use. Blocking is an important part of the knitting process and the method varies by yarn fiber. Wool and natural fibers you usually want to wet (either via dunking or spray) and pin out on a board, bed or piece of foam until it dries.

If you used acrylic, you can't really block other than by heat and 'killing' (ie melting) the fibers.

Also, your knitting pattern will determine how flat it stays. If you did garter stitch (knit every row, back and forth) then it will lay flatter than if you did stockinnete stitch (knit one row, purl back) because stockinette is meant to curl and wrap around things. If you did stockinette you can try picking up stitches along both sides and adding a garter stitch border, it mighthelp.
