I agree that freedom is the fundamental right, which makes Independence the result of jealously guarding that freedom.

I also think that "helping people" is an unacceptable sacrifice of freedom. I would sunset medicare, social security and entitlements because they will bankrupt us eventually and because they create a form of absolute power in the hands of government that has a tendency to grow.

And because the third- fourth- and fifth-generation bureaucrats who administer these programs aren't humanitarians at all, they are power brokers. See also -- Charlie Chaplin's speech at the end of his movie "The Great Dictator."

Independence is earned.

Independence is self-government of a nation, country, or state by its residents and population, generally exercising sovereignty.

you really have to give more details. if you mean indecencefrom everything then I agree as long as you buy a piece of land and never leave it. if you want to interact in public then you should follow the laws governing you. can you imagine if everyone lived as there was no law or social Mora's. we would have people killing others because that is what indecence means to them.it would be total anarchy.

I believe it should be. However, it is not held as one by most courts.

We only have those rights we choose to defend. Only those we can defend.
