hes an ex race horse and tb.... he has not been taught an "disapline" other then galloping around in circles, and the simple "go" and stop the tack is not important when traing a horse for english or western, for the horse its for the rider, [altough when jumping it is beacuse obvisly a western saddle is to heavy :P] obvisly if you were to swap to western you would have to re educat to reining and legs, to mean difrent things but i am asuming he is off the track so he wouldnt know much, mainly just go, and will need educating to english and western, [wich ever is choosen] and all to be fair i suggets you sell him and get you somthing more sutible for yourself and educated before he becomes dangourse he may be fine now but theres a high chance somthing will happen, and you will get hurt and most likley lose all your confidence as i dont know how long you have to riding i can only think you are a begineer, i have so many friends who have bought a tb off the track and has become a disaster, they were all begineers and the tb was the cheapest thing they found, they lost there confidence and lernt there lesson but they got away lucky, one person out of the 5 broke her back form the horse geting confused form the rider and reared up and flipped landing on her

I ride my Arabian mare English and we also jump quite a bit. It is very enjoyable and I love riding English. It certainly isn't as easy as riding Western.
