I remember hearing a long time ago about a chemical that moves quickly through the human body, from cell to cell. I heard that you could taste it merely by touching it with your finger, because of this peculiar property. I also recall an episode of a cop show (possibly Barnaby Jones?) wherein the murderer dissolved snake venom in this chemical and painted his victim's steering wheel with it. What I don't recall is the name of the chemical, though I think it was a three- or four-letter abbreviation starting with M. Can anyone help?

DMSO is the usual shorthand form for Dimethyl sulfoxide. The following reference site might be of help.

Another such chemical (but not the one you were thinking of) is aspergillin, a constituent of asparagus. If you have ever eaten it, you know that it moves through you quite quickly indeed.
