Yes, you can be seen without your parents, you need to talk to your mother before the appointment. She may get her feelings hurt or even be suspicious and angry, but is it better to get it out in the open before you arrive. Explain that you do not feel comfortable discussing personal problems with the doctor with her there. That you would be embarrassed. Be honest, you are almost an adult and will be out on your own soon and would like to start making some decisions. If this is difficult an alternative is to go to a clinic like Planned Parenthood. They can examine you, run pregnacy test and test for STD's and prescribe and dispense birth control and you do not have to have a parent present. They also charge by your income. They also have counselors to talk to. They may be easier to discuss problems with than your MD that has taken care of you since childhood. All of this does not require a parent presence. Good Luck

Ask your mom if you could have some privacy w/the doctor b/c you have some questions to ask her. I mean it's your body. This is real important. I think when you turn 18, you should have the right. My mom gave me the choice to be w/the doctor alone or to have her in there w/me. Just tell her how you feel.

Give the Doctor a call and just go along yourself. Your Mum doesn't need to know, and if by chance she finds out (she won't from the Doctor - even the Receptionist can't tell) just say that your nearly 18 and you feel you should start doing these things by yourself....I would appreciate that if I were your Mum. Give it a try, if you can't call then nip in.

I at latest stay in Maryland and ought to allow you to comprehend that the place of work I take my little ones to has indications plastered throughout that say "little ones below 16 years previous should be followed via a be certain/guardian in the exam room." So, that being the case, they have the be certain pass in and sit down in a chair and that i ought to anticipate the youngster ought to request mom or dad go away in the journey that they have some thing deepest to ask about. the fast answer right it really is, your place of work ought to have a coverage like mine does, it does no longer damage to call and ask. otherwise, request mom deliver a e book and "seem away" even as your exam takes position.

in the medical world, you can have a private consultation with your doc at almost any age, but for sure at 17. you can make the appt by yourself and go by yourself. no matter what age you are, the doc has to keep everything confidential from your parents. but, just so you know...if u are having paps, the doc already knows you aren't a virgin, and if you are having problems, PLEASE talk to your doc asap. i had ovarian cancer 2 yrs ago, and if i would have went to the doc when i started having symtoms, i think the problem could have been caught sooner. good luck!

Go out of the house to a pay phone and call your doctor and ask THEM this question. I *think* it varies from state to state. But you should be able to have a PRIVATE consultation with a doctor at that age.

You are more then old enough if you can make an appointment and have a way of getting there then try to get there your mom should let you learn how to do these things and should be telling you to go to see the Dr alone. and not trying to be holding you back. you have to learn how to do these things your self.

when I was a teenager, I used to go this place called UTMB, check and see if you have one there. you are able to see the "woman doctor" without your parents. You have to just make an appointment and don't tell your mom. Just go without her.
