Hello!! :o) As someone who IS gay - I will admit - there certainly ARE gay people who HAVE a 'mental disorder' - but I'm not sure it has anything to do with their being gay. If anything - I think one would have a easier time arguing in favour of gay people having an 'emotional disorder' than a 'mental disorder'. But then... I haven't met anyone - regardless of their sexual orientation - that didn't have SOME sort of emotional [and mental - come to think of] issue to deal with. For that is the nature of 'man'. Have a great day!! Craig!! :o)

A true gay person I believe is born that way, I think they have more female genes than male genes. They cannot help the way they feel about same sex partners. I would just like to ask non gay people how they would feel if they were expected to sleep with a same sex partner even though they would be turned off by it. Maybe if that happened they would trully understand the meaning of being gay. It is about preference. There is no way I could be with another woman, that is my preference, I cant help it. No, its not a mental disorder in this case, it is just how it is, and nothing or no-one can change how they were born.

I have another theory however, I think a hetrosexual baby can be turned gay in certain circumstances, eg, when males/females are sexually abused by a male relative/friend/stranger. I have worked a lot with sexual assualt victims and the common theme for all victims, male and female is that they feel they are to blame...that there is something they could have done/not done to stop it from happening. A male, in particular could think he must have given the perpetrator an indication that he wanted him to do it to him. A female may turn to same sex partners because her abuse was so horrific it turned her off men all together. All sorts of psycholgical problems occur with any sexual abuse, and if a male is repeatedly sexually assualted by another man, then he may think he is gay. That is only my theory, and I have only come to that conclusion when I was working with street people. Every single one of the gay men I worked with had been sexually abused as a child. They are no less gay, than the people who were born that way....it is still their preference regardless of how they became that way.

In my opinion being gay is not a mental disorder. I do not think people are born gay either. I believe that a person being gay is the result of them being products of their environment.

No. But the realization of such a "defect" can cause depression and self-hatred, which ARE mental disorders. If you don't shun the poor little crips in the special Olympics games, why shun the sexually crippled for playing their own special sports?

YES, of course it is, you are not born gay, you become gay, al these people justifing it just like the idea themselves. or have friends that choose to go gay and like to respect their desicion. now days is more important to defend people's desicions then confront the true... just try this....repeat every day that you are a man (if you are a women) or a women (if you are a man) for 21 days, make it 30 to be sure, do it 10 times per day and let me know how you feel by the end of the month. .. now imagine when you are programed by your world 27/7 that is a must to go gay.

No, i think it is a choice, one that God does not agree with. But youd have to have something wrong with ya to want to be that way. so after being a choice then yes there may be some kind of mental health
