Are you straight? Do you need science to prove to you that you're straight or is it just something that you've known since you were young?

no, there is no such thing as gay gene... as I know it 10% of every species has a tendency toward gayness, and the secret of all this is in hormones. Every body has female and male hormones, your sex is determined before you are born by of which hormone do you have the most. When the to types are almost the same amount there is the problem... you might become a "girly man", or a "manly women"...
The other case is when hormone production shifts for some reason, so you change in time.
The third case is when you turn gay from some kind of disappointment, sentimental reasons, and I think this is the most common. Many gay people are gay just"in their minds".

I don't believe there is such a thing as a "gay gene"; how would it get passed to the next generation?
I think that people become gay through their upbringing. A multitude of tiny incidents compound upon each other while a person's brain is developing, and the person acts a certain way as an adult. Right now we don't have the scientific knowledge to know how to predict what effect things will have on a person while they are growing up. I don't believe we ever will.
It is the same way with every personality trait. Ask yourself if you know why your favorite food is your favorite. Can you remember? How about your favorite color? Or if you know for sure why you are straight or gay? Some questions just can't be answered.

I do beleive that gay people know from a young age that something is different for them...I've had a few gay friend ,both boys and girls and they dont remember being comfortable with the opposite sex in an attractive way. I think Time magazine had an article years ago that provided prrof that the sex cromosomes of the sex gene were differnt..a gay boy had 2 x chromosome on one of the genes and a gay girl had 2y chromosomes. Not sure what came about with this. I personally feel they know from a young age but hide till they feel comfortable with their surroundings to deal.

At the moment, the "gay gene" idea is still in dispute. It may or may not be correct - a lot more study needs to be done for anyone to be sure.

Aye, science has lots of proof.

Particular correlational genes have been found, More importantly there are behavioural characterisitics, like cultural independancy (as in, there are gay people all over the world, regardless of culture) that give a strong indication for the genetic base for homosexuality.

I wonder why you did not post this in science.

No not a gay gene
a guy may have females and a gal may have a males.
It is a freak of nature and can and should be corrected by a sex change . at a early age . given hormones to strengthen the particular sex you are born to .
All the rest are just sickooooos

There may not be a gay gene, but some are a bit too happy, I'm told.

They say that gay guys are exposed to some form of hormone which male babies are exposed to in the womb - except in larger quantities. This gives them an almost Ancient Greco-Roman attitude of being attracted to "equals"...It sounds dubious, but hey, then Im more masculine than that str8 A**hole i tied nekkid to the goal post!
