Yes but not very effectivlely. In order to stop mold from growing you must drop your humidity in the air to 50%. 1/3 of your energy from your AC unit is removing moisture from the air. It is not designed to pull that much moisture out of the air. Plus you must find the source or the water in the basement. AC would have to be running 24/7 and might not do the trick.

The working principle is much the same. But if there is mold and mildew in your basement, dehumidifying it will not remove it. It will remove moisture, and help keep conditions from fostering the growth of mold and mildew, but it won't kill it if it's already there. Adn you could contaminate your air conditioner, so that if you then use it in your living areas, you could be spreading tehspores of mold and mildew throughout your home.

no it will not the ac will make it worst because it is only making more moisture in the air so it will make it mildew more. You can either go to a place that u can rent a dehumidifier it only cost about 30 dollars or so and it works really well. Also either spray the walls down with the bathroom cleaner spray for mold and mildew.

The air conditioner will function to dry the air somewhat. Not as efficiently as a dehumidifier, but it will lower the humidity.

Sure will. Make sure it has someplace to drain the water it draws from the air. A dehumidifier would work better and probably cost less to run.

Buy a freakin' dehumidifier, have it run 24/7 and spray the whole place with bleach solution.

If you have a good place to set it up down there, it should work great. A/Cs pull a lot of moisture out of the air.

in case you have the stains out with bleach yet a cool scent keeps returning right here's a organic restoration. Sounds extraordinary, yet placed clothing in a paper bag and likewise have quite a few briquettes of charcoal in bag. do no longer enable charcoal soil clothing further. The charcoal will draw that yucky scent out of your clothing. mom Nature knows what she is speaking approximately.

No it will only make it colder. An air conditioner condenses water from the air but it cannot collect it in any way.
