Over the centuries, your planet was a curious place to visit once or twice and was not considered very interesting . Sure, your wars showed us how undeveloped you are as a species and your infantile,(in cosmic terms) dependence on god concepts does not bode well for you. We are now showing an interest in you because it is not often that we get to observe a species commit suicide. You are so close to maturing as a sentient species and it will be a shame to see you kill yourselves. There are just not enough of you becoming rational enough to force the issue. You let the least among you determine your fate, so be it.

The problem is that most planets that we could get to within 10 years are unfit to support human life. Plus, by the time that we send Rovers out to planets, take soil and atmosphere samples, find a way to get there, find a way to live there, get people to go there, set up, find materials that will work for building on the planet, find a way for humans to have oxygen, find a space craft that can hold enough people and still go fast enough to leave the atmosphere, set up the planet, establish laws and government, etc., it could be 500 years from now. By the way, you can't build a planet. You just gotta pick something that is already out there.

Because I believe God is going to come back and save me and destroy the earth. Besides what good does it do you to move to another planet and have the same problems and a lot of new problems and continue that forever?

we take everything for granted. If its not broke, why fix it? Also, alot of people do see the need to explore space. They think its a waste of money. Technology is far as we may hope it to be. We do not have any ships that will take us to distant planets. With current methods, it would take 8 months for a ship to reach mars (keep in mind, this is the closest planet) nevertheless anything further. So as for finding another planet that humans can live on, its not going to be any time soon.

In 50 years, we'll be around 10 billion souls, way too much for this earth to sustain...zero fossil fuels, zero coal and other natural resources. Waiting for salvation from a devine power is not rational and a waste of time. Colonizing Mars or one of Jupitor's moons seems the most logical path for humanity.
A cataclysmic event that will bring us down to more sustainable levels (say around 3 billion) will buy us more time, but our search of the heavens (ie, solar system) will be our salvation.

We probably have about 4 billion years before the earth is written off. What's the rush?
When people say they want to save the planet, they actually mean human society. Even the worst nuclear war you could imaging would not destroy the Earth, just make it uninhabitable for us.
We are but one species.

That will come someday, and we might have been preparing ourselves for that if we weren't so busy fighting with our own kind... but that's not a solution to dump a planet and move on, we still have the chance to save this one, and we should, because we don't have enough time to prepare our "glorious" exit

what you say is what many of us think, many being my friend and i and some silence from the crown in our astronomy class. instead of whining that we're all going to die i think you should start some sort of society with the purpose of building a self sustaining spaceship, that way it won't matter how long it takes to get to an habitable planet.

our technology is definitely not that advanced and won't be for some time, why don't we just figure out how to not destroy each other and our planet first before we go around f*cking up other planets.
