I'm a member, though actually qualified by prior testing.
My understanding is that the preliminary home test is really to help create a more "standardized" experience and thus minimize the effects of "test anxiety" that would otherwise be unfair to the candidate for whom the testing procedure is something very unfamiliar. It's pointless to "study" for this kind of test ... just get plenty of sleep and don't try it after a night of partying ;)
You'll meet a lot of potentially good friends; the local group activities can be a lot of fun, and there are many informal groups based on shared interests. A few weeks ago, I spent several wonderful days at the 60th Anniversary World Gathering in Orlando, attended by 2600+ members from 44 countries. The programs were really great and eminently worthwhile, something for every area of interest.
"Bragging rights" are not of much value for folks who've been misunderstood too much already; opinions are divided as to whether it's wise to list Mensa membership on your resume :) After all, we live in a world where film stars, athletes and Olympic-level performers are admired ... so long as it's muscle-power and not brain-power that's on display. Come to think of it, this world has a lot of serious problems, doesn't it? Now that wouldn't have anything to do with generally misplaced values or supporting politicians who have more charisma than intelligence ... would it? Hmm....

I'm sure your brother will just say "well, since you are smarter than me I will not bully you anymore". Probably not. Take the test again. There are so many factors that change everything with age. You're 14, talking about what you did at nine is six years old now. Take the test if you can and see if you got it. And your brother might be the bully because he thinks you are smarter. Proving what he already might think will make his a worse bully. Treat him like a brother, and one day he will understand. Since you're so smart I'm sure you'll understand this, "sometimes you just have to show people you are better than them". This is your brother, and maybe you guys don't get it now, but you will always be brothers. Proving that you are smarter than him is just not right. If it's true, you should be happy just knowing it. Making your brother feel dumb should not be a priority for you.

A mensa member will not divulge question or entry insights. You must be invited and pass a review to enter, and those with higher IQ's meet more often than those on the bottom rung.
P.S. I didn't pass

The practice tests are quite similar to the actual test.
I am not aware of any particular benefits - apart from the satisfaction of achieving membership!
