Hey Jimmy, am fay Scotland living in London with my English partner so have to be careful how I answer your question. Know what I mean!!

I don't think the majority of the English have a problem with us Scots as I know a few English and Scottish people who live, work and socialise together with no problems.

There are probably a few English yobs who hate us Scots, but in general I have found the English to be mostly very hospitable.

We have a 4 year old daughter who was born here. but I do keep telling her she is half Scottish, and oddly enough she enjoys Scottish fare such as Aberdeen Angus steak pies and white puddings, which we order from a butcher in Aberdeen on a regular basis. Tatties and mince, haggis etc. Ahaaaaa.

I personally miss a fish supper from " The Round O" chippie in Arbroath. Don't know if its still there, but they were the best.

Hey, why am I am giving you my life history, probably just nice to reminisce.

I am english living in scotland with a scottish boyfriend. I have found that lots of scots hate the english and this was evident during the World cup. However I do not hate the scots and find it hard to understand where all the hatred for the english comes from.

It seems that way sometimes, a lot of Scottish people have noticed that a lot of English people have become fanatically anti-English since the Scots voted for a Scottish parliament. Look how many of them have said they wouldn't accept a Scottish prime minister. And I hear an awful lot of ranting about England subsidising Scotland (although they don't mention our oil/gas revenues) and how our MPs get to vote on English issues but theirs don't get to on Scottish issues. It must have escaped their notice that they got to decide Scottish issues pretty much exclusively until the Scottish parliament appeared. I'd imagine a similar proportion of English hate Scots as Scots hate English. So probably at least 5 million of them really hate us Scots, as I don't imagine more than half a million Scots really hate the English.

No, I don't hate the Scots, some of my oldest and very best friends are from Scotland. I don't hate any nationality, there are good and bad everywhere. Why do you think people should hate someone? Why do some Scots hate us English?

most geordies like me love the scots....(and the irish for that matter) a feeling i have oft had reciprocated ~ i lived in scotland for a while and while sure there was a lot of anti-english sentiment they didnt seem to bothered by me and there was no hostility even if my family committed the ultimate sin a couple of generations ago when my grandfather went to live in england (there is still a branch of my family there that will not acknowledge is at all...lol)

i also worked at an airport and met a lot of scots going on holiday and or going to work on the rigs etc and ya know i never met a better/friendlier bunch of people (ok maybe the irish too...lol)

but the people down south are just ignorant of everyone but themselves...
londoners especially

ive never met any english people who dislike scots but they do still hold a lot of the stereotypes in mind when they speak about it (is that disliking someone??)

i think the english mentality is to hate everyone basically given the behavoiur of so called football fans abroad

im just rambling now sorry...lol

no i dont. i love the Scottish accent and generally Scots are warm friendly people just like English people. There are good and bad in every race creed and colour and i hate people who hate people because of where they come from. ok.

More a reaction to the way some Scots treat the English. The English do however like to poke fun at other Nationalities e.g. the Irish and do like wise to the Scots but in a more careful manner.

Hate is a strong word. I know there is certainly a racist element within Scotland, and you can argue until the cows come home as to the causes of this minority. The majority of the jeering that goes on is simply healthy banter and rivalry.

As a Scot who currently resides in England, I can assure you that there is also a minority south of the border with a racist element in them. But once again, the majority is just plain banter!

We dont really hate anyone, most people tend to come to england or have an attitude problem when they are around english people just because our sports teams, etc are a little bit better than most. The only people we hate are people who decide that we are up ourselves!
