A MAC is not the answer you are looking for! AVG Antivirus from Grisoft is free and does a pretty good job. Also Ad-Aware from Lavasoft, Spy-bot Search and Destroy from downloads.com. All free and work well. Run these often and keep them updated. Do a Defrag after you have run these. Run them again in safe mode to catch any stray green meenies.

First off all u haven't mentioned which OS u r using.
If it is Win 2000 or above u can use UPHClean which will fix the booting the profile problem
Try stopping some services like, messenger and some software from startup. Uninstall softwares not being used.

as quickly as you have performed the scanning, it would desire to be rather worth doing this to boot. click start up > Run, and attractiveness msconfig click ok then pick the Startup tab. take a glance down the record and notice if there is any courses which you do not want/use that are being loaded on startup. as quickly as you have unticked each and each of those mandatory, click ok on each and all of the bins and restart. BTW Avast AV is a robust loose antivirus software. the domicile version is loose, presented which you register, see the link decrease than. with a bit of luck this might desire to remedy the matters

You did not mention how much RAM and what processor you are running. You may be running too many programs that are loaded on startup. You can try to defragment for a start. You can also run a registry cleanup tool. Remove those programs that are no longer installed, from the registry. It helps.

i agreed that you have to be more specific,
1st, have you install any anti virus software which have run each time you start up your machine?
2nd, what's your pc capacity? i.e. the memory, the processor, etc
3rd, have you check your memory used? if it's too full, then try to defrag/compressed it and please also check is your pc heavily loaded.

You should be more specific. What screens take long when starting up? Is there any strange beeps? Any messages on the first screen you see when booting your computer? How much space is left on your hard drive and how big is it?

if you're able to, or know someone who can help, or take it to a shop, and ask them to 'reformat' for you.
You'll need to have the install CDs and software available to be reinstalled. Make sure you have (or ask them to) backup your files for you before formatting your hard disk.
that will definitely speed it up than how it is now.

Try going into your maintaince and performance and cleaning up your hardrive. This will free up some space from your temp. files and should help your computer from bogging down.
