I tried them, and they made matters worse for me and prevented me from getting the help I DID need.

I spent 20 years bouncing in and out of the rooms, I learned powerlessness, that I had a disease, it was genetic, and only God could save me; all wonderful excuses to keep drinking. I finally turned my back on AA, got help for the depression that kept me drinking, and haven't had a drink in over 5 years, without AA.

Never - I don't see much use for them and I'm not an alcoholic. AA is another false religion, nothing more.
