After 6 mos is generally considered OK.

Personally, I prefer to hold off on juice until between 9-12 mos old. Water is better for them and I always introduced that first at 6 mos.....just a few sips when they had solid meals.

When you do introduce juices, dilute it to at least 50/50 with water. White grape juice and pear juice are good to start with as they don't have a lot of acid in them and are gentler on their tummies. In a sippy cup and NOT in a bottle.

I am a nutritionist

you can give juice after 6 months of age

it must be diluted 1 to 1 with water and no more than 4 oz a day

also juice should not be given in the bedtime bottle because it will cause nursing bottle syndrome (ditto on sippy cups) you are actually supposed to give any liquid (except formula and water) in a cup without a valve,

Try to start you baby with natural juice I went with pear first and the apple . My baby loves both. Watch out for citric, is better to wait on this due to possible allergy. I gave only breast milk for the 1st 6 months. Also make sure to give NO more than 4 oz of juice a day.

Some people recommend after 6 months of age. Give him juice when he/she can drink out of a sippy cup. Never give the baby juice in a baby bottle.

Whenever your baby is ready for a sippy cup, then she is ready for juice mixed w/water and no more than 4 oz a day, because it has so much sugar in it.

6 months, half juice (best organic with no added sugar) half filtered water in a cup.
