Make sure if you do this to quarantine your catch in another tank specifically setup to quarantine fish in. I have a buddy back east with a 210g tank and he has a Chain Pickerel, 2 Yellow Perch, 1 White Perch, and a host of feeders in there now.
You will want to quarantine him for about 30 days. Evaluate his/her progress over that time, and so long as you do not see any signs of fungus or parasites (many different types - look them up for symtoms) then I would say go for it, but remember - these are game fish you are talking about - not ornamentals. They are use to feeding themselves and feeding on other fish. You could wind up with some problems mixing them up like this.
Personally I keep natural tanks (no ornamental fish).

Well, first of all, collecting wild fish is possibly illegal in some areas or has restrictions. You need to check with your local fish and game authority to see if there are limits on collecting native fish species. There may be laws regarding what species can be caught or how long they must be or how many you can collect in one day. After you have done that...
They certainly can be kept in home aquariums and make great aquarium fish. I would not keep them with cichlids which are tropicals because they do have different requirements. Bass and bluegill are coldwater fish and won't like the higher temps the cichlids do. Native fishes generally prefer stronger currents, also. Yes, the native fish will most likely have diseases and parasites that tropicals are not normally exposed to and will have little to no immunity to.
If you are really interested in keeping native fishes and doing it right, check out the The North American Native Fishes Assoc at http://www.nanfa.org

my ex's dad put a small bass in their fish tank and they had some gold fish and some of those fish with the big bulging eyes. Well the bass ate the eyes out of the other fish then as it got bigger it ate everything in the tank.
Also I've been to a guys house that caught a small cat fish put it in a 40 gallon tank with some drift wood he pulled out of the pond that thing is huge now and the water stays murky. You can't see the catfish until it charges your face and smacks the glass. It has eaten everything he's put in the tank including two small catfish he caught a year later.

Don't do it.
The catfish will eat all of the other fish, and that is some expensive fish food.
I have heard of people doing this, and after putting the catfish in the tank, there was a slime all over, and after cleaning it, it came back. Again, and again, and again. Until they just got rid of the catfish in a local pond.
as for the other fish, I do not know.
Just make sure that you have them swim around in a bucket of clean water (but not chlorinated water) before putting them in your aquarium so that they get all of the dirt out of them. (people do this when they catch fish to make them taste better, no dirt taste) it should help keep the aquarium cleaner.

Yes you can put the in a tank with others, but A large mouth bass is more aggressive then any of the others, and make sure you don't catch a mud cat and put it in. I use to have to large mouth Bass and 2 Channel cats, they did great got to big for my 55 gallon so put them in a lake .

i wouldnt as the fish may be carrying a paricite or illness, also as you have cichlids i assume you have a tropical tank with a heater so the water wouldnt be the right temp and the conditions would be diffrent to.
also dont forget these wild fish like bass etc get big so as it grows there will be less room in your tank.

Well i don't think it well be a probable, But i don't think you should put a big fish in with smaller fishes cause the big fish might eat them. pluse you have to getthe water at the right temperture and have the right food for those kinds of fish. but i would try it and see what happens. and let me know if it works cause if it does i can get me a fish with out the money.
