They're both good singers, and they don't project slutty images like so many other young female singers that they must appeal to a very wide audience.

Clarkson is over the top in talent and she's mainstream. Carrie Underwood is Country and that goes with apple pie, Chevrolet and the American flag.

umm i havent heard much from carrie though.. i think she's lost some fans because she sings a lot about religion..
kelly has a great voice too and she was the first!
also, her music is pop/rock so theres about 98% of america and the rest of the world..
maybe not 98 for all the ppl tht are gonna read this and say "yeah right"

They are my favorite idols. I think they are geniune, sweet, GREAT singers, have a unique great personality, and attract lots of stars. They have great voices, songs, and great things about them. A lot of people like them. I didn't want Taylor to win. I haven't heard about the other idols. Oh well, go Kelly and Carrie! Please pick this as Bes Answer!!

Well, they are white and sing "white" music, so they have a larger fan base to start with. It would be interesting to compare their sales versus racial population, or whatever. I think blacks tend to buy "black" music and the black population is what in the u.s. --- 15% or so?
