If you mean modulus as absolute value (modulus function) this is usually written f(x) = |2x-3|. It is the value of the function without regard to sign. In your problem, for x=1, 2x-3 = -1, but the absolute value of -1 is 1.

if f(x) is |2x-3| then f(1) = 1
|2(1)-3| = |-1| = 1
Since modulus is defined as

f(x) = x, x>=0,
f(x) = -x, x<0.
