Here I will give you a list of what I am (I'm a far left liberal btw) then just think the opposite and you have a rep.

- I believe in war as a last resort or unless we or an ally have been attacked. IEs, Gulf War and Pearl Harbor
- I believe in UN support and if the UN is corrupt, instead of bailing on them, fix it.
- I believe we have a duty to pay our elderly social security because they paid those funds when they were working. That is like robbing them if we do not pay it back.
- I do not believe trickle down economics of Reagan, Bush Sr, and Bush Jr works. It never works. I believe in Clinton's economic system that is commonly referred to as Pay-As-You-Go.
- I believe in FDR's New Deal that the republican party has been trying to destroy piece by piece.
- I believe our social programs that keep families from living under bridges prevent us from becoming a 3rd world country.
- I believe in welfare but I also believe in Clinton's welfare reform where it is limited to 2 to 3 years in a lifetime. This prevents ppl from living on it their entire life; thereby, prevents welfare abuse.
- I believe in universal healthcare because a healthy nation is a powerful nation and also the pharmcy/insurance companies are corrupt.
- I believe in government regulation of monopolies such as power/energy, cable and telephone companies. Everytime the government deregulates these industries, they promise the price will go down but it never does... it always increases thereby increases the cost of living.
- I do not believe in making laws that violate constiutional rights... such as the Patriot Act or even seatbelt laws.
- I do not believe in making new laws everytime a problem arises; but rather, to fix the problem.
- I believe in gay marriage because gay ppl pay taxes too and heteorsexual couples should not be given special rights by the states just because they are straight. Otherwise take away those special rights and don't allow the state to recognize anyone's marriage.
- I believe in a woman's right to choose because just as the Supreme Court has ruled, a woman has a constitutional right to privacy over what happens to her body.
- I believe in the right to own a gun because it is a constitutional right.
- I believe in the constitution 110% and the liberties it allows each citizen.
- I am anti-illegal immigration because simply, they break the law by entering illegally.
- I believe in complete separation of church and state per the constitution and as interpreted by Thomas Jefferson who stated, "thus building a wall of separation between Church and State"
- I believe in SMALL GOVERNMENT in terms of big brother staying the hell out of my business. I've never participated in a census and refuse to. I am a LIBERAL and believe government has NO RIGHT to stick its nose in my business.

Unfortunately, there are almost indisguishable differences between Democrates and Republicans. There will not be a list that could compare the differences. Even if you found one, it is not likely to be true. Both parties would have members that think alike but belong to the other party, either by the relationships or the political machines they build. If one has to find the differences, he has to find them fromt the groups that supported the parties and the factions that lead the leadership of the party.

Republicans' main supporters tend to be wealthy individuals(CEO's, opportunistic entreperneurs , and mutual fund beneficiaries), socially conservatives (Christian rightists and fundmentalists), and whites who live in less populous areas of US. As Democrates, trial lawyers (who fought the big firms to get even for the little guys while getting rich in the process), labor unions, and minorities (who tends to have lower social standing than the rest of the society).

Those are just the things that comes to mind. Political parties have realigned themselves over the years. What is true today might not be the case tomorrow. If finding a party is to give you a better criteria for voting, please don't do so. In my mind, political parties are poison pills of any political system. If you truly want to make an good decision, make it an informed one. Take the time to know the candidates and vote knowing that you have performed your sacred duty for your democracy.

from what I've seen, seems that Republicans are for the white collars and businessmen and the educated, and the Democrats are for the working class, unions, and with some or little education.

From there on each person running as a candidate is running on a platform for what he/she believes in and the topics range from stem cell research, firearms, pro or against abortion, taxes, education, war and funding, environment, minimum wage, nuclear power, etc.

Remember that these are not the only parties running in elections, plus there are write-ins...check Wikipedia for a list of the other parties.

There is something else you might want to look up, and it's called the "electoral college" and how the votes are counted and how winners are determined.

The ones that have turned Washington Dc into "Emerald City" - that would be the Republicans. The ones who derive their foreign and domestic policies from the wizard of Oz - that would be the republicans.
The ones who produce a flavor of the month terrorist boogey man - that again would be the republicans!
The ones who have robbed the national coffers to ruin - that would be the republicans.

You can look at their official websites.

But both parties have pretty much abandoned any concept of legitimate values. Both parties now favor large government, and either oppressive social controls or unchecked social handouts. Both sponsor candidates who are more concerned with pushing their own political agenda, and don't bother to do their actual job.

Think independently. Vote Libertarian.

The easiest way is for you to research the voting records. Compare the vote to the mission statement. I believe you will find very similar voting records. It is becoming more difficult to tell the difference.

That is something that everyone needs to decide on their own, I'm sorry but to make an informed decision you will have to wade through all the mess that is politics just like we all have to do.

There really isn't any. Look at the difference between them and the Greens maybe.

No I don't, I'm sorry. If you find one, let me know! I have yet to see much difference, except that republicans appear to be even more brain washed by the bible.

There isn't much difference. You're basically voting for two different versions of liberalism.
