There's no such thing as a "United Statesian", don't invent. It's like the term Gringo, I hate it so much that I can hit anybody if they say it (because I don't like to name-call anyone). There's no country that can considered to be the most free country. If we want to get technical, Holland is the most liberal country in the world followed by Sweden, at least according to what many say. But the USA is a democratic country, not the only or most or least. Only countries controlled by dictators should be considered the least democratic. Besides, it depends on the people. I consider the USA a free and democratic country but it would be too much to say that one country is better than the rest of the world; it's like bragging and it should depend on how people live.

The US is far from being the best democracy in the world; but sadly most Americans don't understand this; they have bought into the myth about America being the greatest democracy; perversely, all the freedom in the US makes it difficult for its citizens to understand that their democracy has decayed greatly in recent years under both Democratic and Republican administrations; freedom in a country where the elected representatives no longer represent the interests of citizens and where the economy mostly benefits the rich - this is economic inequality - and harms working- and middle-class people is really not a very good form of freedom; sure, Americans have freedom to consume, but they lack real political and economic freedom! To learn more about all this and the SOLUTION read the great new book Delusional Democracy - Fixing the Republic Without Overthrowing the Government.

Whoever lives in a free, Democratic society, wherever it may be, tends to think theirs is the freest of all. And the US IS very free still. I can walk to a store and start to tell everyone there that George Bush is an IDIOT and no one is going to come to arrest me.
We have a free PRESS here too, and so do a lot of Democracies. That means that they can publish what they want to, even if the Government doesn't like it.
Even with all the errors my country has made, it is STILL one of the first places people from dictatorships want to come. Because it is free.
Why don't you come here too, and see - we have a saying
"Give me your poor, your tired, and your hungry"
We haven't ALL lost what America means to the world! That's just our STUPID government. See? I called them STUPID publicly. And nothing will happen to me for saying that. I have no fear !

For one thing, we have a LIMITED democratic government. Our government has less authority than the governments of many other democracies, which means it is harder for our government to restrict the freedom of the people
The U.S. also has a a very strong, very active, very independent judicial system. This judicial system serves to protect the rights of individuals to a greater degree than in other democratic countries.
"Democracy" by itself does not equal freedom. If the Christian majority in a nation decided to restrict the rights of a Jewish minority, that WOULD be democratic but would NOT show much respect for freedom.
I don't know if these factors make us the overall "most free" country in the world, but it certainly gives us a strong claim.

The USA is not a democracy, it is a representative
republic and we have more freedoms than any country in the world because most of the so-called free world are Socialist forms of governments and the USA is the greatest country on the face of this planet and that is a fact, jack!!!!!

It's called propoganda. It's people saying "we're the best" to make themselves feel better, and to justify what's being done in their name.
