She's always in a competition with me it seems even if she has to lie about it.
She just asked me about my good news and I told her that I'm going to France and London next summer. Then she comes up with this lie that she got an invitation to study in France. Yeah, right, if that were true I'm pretty damn sure she would have told me. And I told her that I was invited to a special conference in DC for less than 1% of all high school students and she says that she's gotten the same invitation the past 2 years in a row. Yeah, right. She would have told me about them if they were true. I mean she can't be happy for me and say good job, but she has to make up these tremendous lies to make her life sound fabulous . I mean I guess it shouldn't bother me so much if I know they're lies, but what should I do? Call her on them? Tell her I know? Tell her she's just being a *****? I don't know its just so annoying.

You answered your own question. Nobody treats a friend like that. It is OK to be jealous of a friends success...but come on.......why do you even want somebody this messed up in your life. You are on the right track, it's time to move forward and take her off the close friend list. I would also let her know that you don't believe her, and that if she valued you as a person she wouldn't lie, you would like her anyway. If she can't change, dump her.

It seems to me that your friend is jealous of your accomplishments. A true friend shouldn't be this way. If I were in your situation I would sit her down and ask her why she keeps saying that she received the same things I did. Tell her that you want her to be happy for you and to not act this way. I'm sure you can save your friendship but don't call her a ***** b/c that will make the situation worse. Hope everything works out.

I say find another friend who can be proud of you, cause if you tell her that she is a liar, she will obviously lie. So dont waste your time with people like that cause they dont like to see others do better than them.

i would ask her why she can't just be happy for you. tell her how it makes you feel when she does that. tell her that she is just not being a true supportive friend when she always has to make herself seem/look better than you.

well if I didn't know better I would say she's just jealous try to let it go and just keep being the best you are and make her even jelous!
